Lawrence A. Helm

Senior Enterprise Architect
Director of Government Operations

Mr. Helm has 17 years experience in analysis and integration of plans, policies and goals at NASA Headquarters. Having expanded our corporate client base to include all of NASA's major lines of business, he now leads and manages Information Dynamics' Washington, DC office, providing strategic support for Federal clients. His key strengths are:

  • The vision to lead, and the strategic skills to organize new programs: initiated the first EA Programs for the four NASA Mission Directorates (Science, Exploration, Aeronautics, Human Space Flight). (2006-2008)
  • The ability to convey tactical complexity to executive audiences: authored Mission Focus Reviews (Science Data Centers, Payload Operations and Integration), rationalizing the existing investment portfolio, including independent validation and verification of management oversight processes. Analysis yielded clear target state requirements which were incorporated into the NASA Transition Plan. (2006-2007)
  • Discipline in Project Management: led key systems integration activities, including "Project Rosetta," the integration of legacy Earth Science and Space Science information systems into the newly formed joint Science Mission Directorate. (2004-2005)
  • Analysis and application of abstract concepts: authored IT policy analyses and technical evaluations of Agency initiatives, including Enterprise Architecture, Knowledge Management, Semantic Web, XML, Desktop Support and IT Security. (1998-2006)

Maria Reeths

Enterprise Architect

Ms. Reeths has 24 years of IT experience working in the publishing and banking sectors. As an enterprise architect, her industry insights help formulate EA strategy for our customers. She is a principal contributor to the development of our customer's EA program documents. Ms. Reeths also manages our internal business operations, architecting our IT infrastructure to support future business requirements and delivering quality services supporting our professional team. Some of her key strengths are:

  • Applied analytical skills: quantifies the problem states for EA Reviews and helps prepare business cases to define target state solutions.
  • The ability to improve and streamline business processes: contributed to the root cause analysis for an agency-wide IT initiative commissioned by the NASA Administrator; co-authored processes for the Award-winning NASA EA Review program.
  • Leadership of business operations: responsible for ensuring Information Dynamics' three new branch offices integrate seamlessly with corporate headquarters.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture: oversaw the integration of artifacts and quality assurance for NASA technical, business and data architecture reference models, which OMB scored "GREEN." (2006, 2007 & 2008)

Carolyn L. Van Drei

Enterprise Architect

Mrs. Van Drei has 20 years experience in multiple areas of information technology. Her work in both the private and public sectors includes Enterprise Architecture, Project Management, Business and Statistical Analysis, Business Process Re-engineering, and Data Warehousing and Relational Database Technology. She now manages Information Dynamics' prime Enterprise Architecture contract, with a focus on EA Policy. Her strengths include:

  • Expert knowledge of and insight into Federal EA Policy: authored the governance structure which evolved into NASA Enterprise Architecture policy (NPR 2830), establishing an EA Program at NASA; also drafted content for other NASA Policies to link EA into key NASA business processes. (2004-2006)
  • The ability to accurately assess requirements and the work necessary to meet them: analyzes statutory requirements and prepares NASA EA self assessments and quarterly reports which ensure NASA is positioned to characterize its investments and meet its long-term strategic goals.
  • Skill in translating a priori knowledge into tangible business case development: produced FEA mapping guidance for the preparers of OMB Exhibit 300 and 53s. (2005-2008)
  • The ability to construct EA reference models: analyzed and prepared new program content for multiple Segment Architecture Reference Models, demonstrating NASA's line of sight mapping and investment alignment with the FEA; this information was key to the successful 2007 OMB EA Assessment.

Colin A. White

Senior Enterprise Architect
Project Manager

Mr. White has 17 years international experience spanning Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. Having worked in mission and business critical industries including aerospace, telecommunications, banking and electronic markets, he is currently working as an enterprise architect and project manager supporting the U.S. Geological Survey Technical Support Services Contract (TSSC). Based at the Center for Earth Resource Observation and Science (EROS), a data management, systems development and research center, he is currently leading EA and SOA initiatives. His key strengths are:

  • The ability to integrate the business principles and engineering fundamentals required to develop strategic objectives and tactical plans: established the TSSC EA Maturity Framework and Roadmap. (2006-2008)
  • Proven knowledge of business case development necessary for the evaluation of capital expense and budget plans as part of an EA Technical and Investment Review Board: serving as an SME on the EROS EA Steering Committee and Review Board. (2006-2008)
  • Experience in leading organizational change through stakeholder management, requirements analysis and service level agreements: lead organizational realignment and transformation of service portfolio. (2006-2007)
  • Extensive IT infrastructure and system design and deployment experience in large scale enterprise and datacenter environments: lead multi-year, enterprise platform transformation and migration for PwC, London. (2005-2006)
