Federal Segment Architecture Methodology (FSAM)
The Federal Segment Architecture Methodology (FSAM) is a step-by-step process for developing and using segment architectures that was developed by distilling proven best practices from Federal agencies and industry practitioners. Use of the FSAM should result in more complete and consistent segment architecture products and will result in greater reuse of segment architectures by providing key information that informs downstream processes for business performance, capital planning and investment control (CPIC), and the system development life cycle. The FSAM is a prescriptive methodology developed by practitioners that ensures alignment with the FEA framework. The FSAM features easy-to-use templates that expedite architecture development and maximize architecture use. The FSAM includes step-by-step guidance based on business-driven, results-oriented architecture.
